The surest way to lose control is to focus purely on winning (or results) – winning is often beyond influence, let alone control.
The rule of thumb is to anticipate, but don’t expect. Always anticipate positive outcomes. But don’t become so fixed & rigid in your expectations that you freak out when things don’t turn out as planned. Actually, things not turning out as planned is really likely (think corona virus!) – setbacks & failures are a normal part of the journey.
The secret of control is to have a soft focus on results & a hard focus on acting like a consistent high performer (being the most awesome version of yourself). It’s the consistent high performer who has the presence of mind to take a deep breath & have the courage to step forward again. It’s the high performer mindset that gives you the control to be successful.
No one is coming to save you. So time to be your own superhero. Write down three or four behaviours you expect of your superhero self & review these every night. If you’re struggling to think of anything - try these: Courage, Determination, Unselfishness, & Cheerfulness
